The Mini Kinder group start their day by spending the morning playing and exploring The House (the central hub of our building) and the backyard.

At 2.00 pm the Mini Kinder children go into the Kinder room as a group. We like to think of this time as an intro to Kinder. During this time the children have the opportunity to engage in an interest based program specifically set up for them by their trained educators along with becoming familiar with the Kinder environment. This Mini Kinder time finishes as 4.30 pm when the children join the Toddler and Kinder children outside and in The House.

Our Day

Ivanhoe Co-op’s 4-6 year old Kindergarten Program is an interest based, child directed and teacher framed approach to early childhood education.

The focus is on achieving holistic and meaningful learning through the support and encouragement of children’s existing dispositions to learn.

The Kindergarten program aims to scaffold children’s emerging and changing knowledge and understanding of the world around them through playful exploration and positive interactions.

The program’s dynamic and emergent approach means its’ physical and thematic environment is constantly evolving.

By supporting and celebrating children’s in-built capacity to explore and learn, the Co-op Kindergarten experience lays the foundations for a successful and enjoyable life long learning journey.

The Government acknowledges the importance of children having the opportunity to have 15 hours with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher the year before they start school. To access these hours, your child is able to attend Co-op between the hours of 7:30am to 1:30pm.  This is provided they are enrolled for at least 1 Long Day of care per week.

These sessions are charged at half the normal daily fee and is eligible for CCS fee assistance.
